Eivind Gullberg Jensen was born in 1972 in Norway.
His work in the past few seasons includes his debuts with SWR Sinfonieorchester Baden-Baden / Freiburg (January 2006), Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra (May 2005), and Frankfurt Museums Gesellschaft Orchestra (December 2003). He's worked with many soloists such as Hélène Grimaud, Christian Tetzlaff, and Truls Mørk. Future performances are planned with Orchestre National de Bordeaux Aquitaine, Orchestre National de Lille, and Orchestre National de France, as well as concerts with Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, Orchestre National de Lyon, Berlin Sinfonie, Gothenburg Symphony, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Musikkollegium Winterthur, Orchestre Nationale du Capitole du Toulouse, Madrid RTVE, and Salzburg Mozarteum. Jensen recently had his debut with the Residentie Orkest from The Hague.
He took over as a conductor in Die Fledermaus for Komische Oper in the 2003/4 season. The immense success of Jensen's opera debut was the main reason Kirill Petrenko invited him back to conduct the Barber of Seville in the 2004/5 season. Jensen will also conduct a new production of Tosca, the opera he conducted in Stockholm, now directed by Nikolaus Lehnhoff for the Baden Baden Festspielhaus in summer 2007 and performed by Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin and the Rundfunkchoir Berlin.
